As parents of a child with complex needs, we were anxious about our first IEP meeting to say the least. We went into it as former educators who were used to sitting on the other side of the table. Yet, when we were preparing for our own son’s meeting, we were completely overwhelmed. Gina walked us through the process step by step with compassion, clarity, and expertise. She took the time to understand all of our concerns, and who our son is, beyond his rare genetic condition. She recognized the obstacles he could related to his access to the curriculum, as well as potential safety concerns. When the day finally came, we felt more than ready to advocate for our son and make sure his team was ready to meet his needs on the first day of school. As the years have gone on and we’ve encountered challenges, Gina has made sure we don’t let anything slide when it comes to our son’s needs and legal rights. She has not missed a beat and has continued to come to the table and support not just us as parents, but she also always looks to us at moments where she can step in and help guide our son’s team of teachers and therapists with professionalism and skill.
